Introduction

This wiki entry lists the velocity information for the 14 UGMS sites. Included are the original Vs, Vp, and density material properties from CVM-S4.26 as well as the properties used within the CyberShake simulations.

In order to ensure the stability of the simulations at 0.5Hz, CyberShake applies the following rules to each point in the velocity mesh:

  1. Vs has a minimum of 500m/s.
  2. Vp has a minimum of 1700m/s.
  3. Vp cannot be less than 1.45 x Vs. If it is, then Vs is set to be Vp / 1.45.

The data below displays the site name, latitude, longitude, and depth at which we queried CVM-S4.26. The original Vs, Vp, and density from the model are displayed, followed by the material properties after the three aforementioned rules have been applied. Therefore, the CyberShake Vs, Vp, and density columns represent what was actually used in the CyberShake 14.2 simulation.

Attenuation is also set within the CyberShake code to be as follows:

  • Qs = 0.05 * Vs
  • Qp = 2 * Qs

These attenuation values have been calculated and appended as the last two columns of the table below.
