CSEP/CISM/Paleoseismology Workshops

CSEP Workshop funded, hoping for the SCEC annual meeting
1 day workshop (wrapping up CSEP1 and planning for CSEP2)
Need to start thinking about what to address; extended abstracts, etc.
Hope to present CSEP1 curated data set; hoping for California one-day model evaluations.
W/r/t to the CISM/Paleoseismology
- Switch to 1 day workshop
- Proposal to split half time on Paleo side and physics-based forecasting side.
CSEP overlap with the Earthquake gates group.

Curation of CSEP1 data set

Goal: v1.0 of CSEP1 data set by mid-summer.
Step 1: Figure out the status of the CSEP system, and make decision based on resources.
Important to get 'complete' set of results and publish those.
Notes: CSEP does not use Comcat for authoritative data set
Idea: run comparison to see how much the catalogs change and its effects on the forecasts
- Important to publish the evaluation results, next the forecasts, and catalogs. Think about data management problem.
- Proposal from Max: Identify missing forecast from one-day model group. Regenerate missing forecasts, and verify the test results and evaluations. Must rebuild trust in the system.
Task for Bill: Think carefully about levels of reproducibility of CSEP1 data and what time/effort is required.
