Below is a glossary-in-progress for CyberShake terms.

  • ERF:
  • Rupture Generator:
  • Rupture Variations: Individual earthquakes simulated in CyberShake. These are produced by running the rupture geometries specified in the ERF through a rupture generator. Starting with Study 15.4, every rupture variation has had a unique slip distribution and hypocenter location. Rupture variations can be uniquely identified by the tuple (ERF ID, rupture variation scenario ID, source ID, rupture ID, rupture variation ID).
  • SGTs: Acronym for Strain Green Tensors, the data product produced in CyberShake when wave propagation is performed. These are 6-component symmetric tensors. This data product, rather than velocities or accelerations, is produced to enable reciprocal calculations of the seismograms.
