This is a collect of SCEC Ground Motion simulation visualizations.

Ground Motion Simulation 4D Dataset

SCEC worked with IEEE animation group in 2006 to provide and define a 4D (x,y,z,t) earthquake simulation dataset that could be used in an IEEE visualization contest. The SCEC IEED visualization Data Set (4D dataset) (2006) is posted online. The web pages contain descriptions of the data, and links to where the data can be downloaded.

Example Ground Motion Animations

This map view animations shows the M8 rupture propagation south on the San Andreas Fault in southern California using Ely style color-scales. Based on the file-metadata these ground motions are based on the y-component of motion.
