CISM
Project Description
CISM: Collaboratory for Interseismic Simulation and Modeling
CISM is a 3-year project funded by the W.M. Keck Foundation. It involves a large number of SCEC participants from both the scientific community and from the software engineering group. The project has two main goals: 1. To develop the Collaboratory for Interseismic Simulation and Modeling (CISM) where interdisciplinary teams can create system-specific models for time-dependent earthquake forecasting that are comprehensive, physics-based, data-calibrated, and prospectively testable. 2. To enlarge the national expertise in earthquake forecasting by providing early-career scientists with opportunities to master advanced forecasting models and creatively use them in their own research.
